The national organization "New ARES Plan" will be requiring that new guidelines for ARES members be totally implemented by the end of 2020. The plan has three training levels, we will be going over the requirements for each level via email and training, possibly starting next month.
The current meetings and NET dates are posted in the system. If you are registered in ARES Connect you will receive a notice of upcoming events, if you have not received the notices for this monthly meeting and the Monday NET you are not correctly registered in ARES connect. Please document your attendance at each event that you are active in as soon as possible after the event. Inform Rich or Tom if you perform work directly related to Delco ARES, we will add the date/time in the system.
Remember, your call sign is your user name.
Insure that you log into SERVPA at least once a month, inactivity causes an automatic removal from the system.
The system also requires you to change your password periodically.
We reviewed the use of the ICS-213 form, and saw a customized ICS-213 form for ARES groups.
Upcoming 2020 Priorities
We discussed some of our upcoming priorities for 2020:
- Receive and setup new go kit radio equipment. The order is now in process of being shipped.
- Continue to work on ICS-213 knowledge and practice. Will organize NETs in order to do this over the radio.
- Implementation of D-STAR and D-RATS for digital communications and messaging, will be able to do this with new equipment.
- Recruiting of new members, and mentoring new hams.
- Work on Delco ARES handbook, similar to what is available at other local ARES groups.
Saturday Radio Chat Get Together
The Delco ARES group will be getting together weekly on Saturday mornings, 10am, at Burlap & Bean in Newtown Square. This will be a great opportunity to just talk radio and discuss/learn about other things we may have interest in.
Delco MRC MCM POD Strike Team Exercise
Ed Kline invited Delco ARES to participate in the Delco MRC MCM POD Strike Team Exercise at Swathmore College to provide radio support.
We will perform a CLOSED POD exercise at Swarthmore College from 9 am to 2 pm. Lunch to be provided. This will be a CLOSED POD exercise based on a pandemic situation. So we will be conducting a vaccination clinic with some different procedures that we have used for a typical pill dispensing POD.
Where: Swarthmore College Matchbox, Fieldhouse Lane, Swarthmore, PA 19081
When: Saturday, March 21, 2020 from 9 am to 2 pm
