EC-001 Introduction to Emergency Communication
Description. This course is designed to provide basic knowledge and tools for any emergency communications volunteer. The course has 6 sections with 28 lesson topics. It includes student activities, knowledge review quizzes, and a 35-question final assessment. The course is entirely online and can be completed according to your own schedule.
Prerequisites. Before you begin the course you should have completed the following prerequisites. These courses provide a foundation for the content of this course. These are free mini-courses you can take online:
- IS-100 (IS-100.c) Introduction to the Incident Command System
- IS-700 (IS-700.b) National Incident Management System
Please note: When you enroll for this course you will be asked to provide your date of completion of these courses.
Completion of the free ARRL EC‐001 “Intro to Emergency Communications” is required for completion of the Level 2 portion of the Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES) Emergency Communicator Individual Task Book. To download a free copy of the Task Book: http://www.arrl.org/ares
Course Completion Requirements. At the end of the course students must successsfully pass the Final Assessment with a score of 80%. ARRL staff must verify successful completion before students can receive their Certificate of Completion.
