Good Morning Everyone!

Due to the current state of the pandemic, our Skywarn training will once again be all virtual this season. We have three options for virtual Skywarn training:

  1. Live Webinars: Sign up for one of our live webinar sessions (you only need to attend one session to become a spotter. We have two scheduled this Spring: April 14 7 PM - 9 PM and April 30 6 PM - 8 PM. Registration links are at the bottom of this email and also available on our website here

  2. View the recorded version of the 2020 webinar (updated as of November 2020): This presentation will be very close to what is presented in the live webinars. To view the presentation go to this link. Upon completion, if you are interested in registering as a spotter, register using this form.

  3. COMET/MetEd modules: You can complete a series of two modules on the COMET/MetEd website. A few notes about this option: this doesn't have some of the local-specific information, but it is a great course. Also, you may have to register to take any module on this site, but it is free. After completing these two modules, if you are interested in becoming a spotter, please complete the registration for our office here.

Anyone is welcome to take any of the options mentioned above. However, because of privacy concerns, we can not register anyone as a spotter if they are younger than 18. The material for the Skywarn classes is generally at a middle/high school level.

We hope you can join us for one of the options listed above and thank you for your interest in the Skywarn program! Please let me know if you have any questions!

Sincerely,
Sarah Johnson
